Amica translates from Latin to "loved friend", closely related to the Spanish "amiga" and Italian "amica" which mean "friend". Texas' state motto is "friendship", and the state's name comes from the Caddo word "Taysha" meaning "friends/allies".
Emily is an English name from the Latin root "Aemilia" and means "to strive, "to excel", or "to rival", and a reference to Emily Austin Perry, sister and sole heir to Stephen F. Austin (the "Father of Texas") who gained significant status politically, economically, and socially at a time when women weren't treated equally to men.
Due to the influence of Spain and Mexico on the state, she retains Spanish surnames, though these names are no longer the same ones she used before the Texas Revolution. The first surname is Cruz, meaning "cross" (a reference to the state being one of the more "religious" in the Union) and the second De La Rosa, meaning "of the rose" (as in the "Yellow Rose of Texas", a folk song featuring a biracial indentured servant who helped win the Battle of San Jacinto, the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution).
Europeans came to present day Texas in 1519, making Amica's age up to 495, though she wasn't admitted into the Union until December 29, 1845. That said, she actually takes March 2 as her birthday, as March 2, 1836 is the date the state declared independence from Mexico.

Most likely, the first thing people notice about Amica is her height. Standing at 6'2", she towers over most other people, and though she's never felt any embarrassment over her size (after all, everything's bigger in Texas), she isn't the sort to wear heels or other things to add to her height.
Actually, she really isn't the type to wear "fancy" things in general, finding them uncomfortable and likewise she tends to feel silly in most formal wear. Her outfits tend to consist of casual clothes, western boots and denim jeans and shorts and various t-shirts and blouses and the like, depending upon the weather at the time as she's had to deal with both high temperature droughts and blizzards.
Her long, brown hair is often tied back in a pony tail to keep it out of her way, though if it's windy she's been down to don this style* instead in an attempt to keep it from getting too tangled since that would only be a headache later. The shorter strands left free frame forest green eyes, which compliment her brown skin, about a 10 on this chart. With her wide hips and large chest, she has more of a Cello body type, muscled from work though her love of fried foods leave her with some softness on her stomach and hips.
There's a notable scar on her back that resulted from the Goliad Campaign (which included the Alamo and Goliad Massacre) during the Texan Revolution, and a small five-pointed star-shaped birthmark on her right index finger.
